Hmmm. So being this is the end cylinder wouldn't it just effect the adjacent cylinder. I guess we'll just have to mic it after the sleeve is inserted.

of course!!! SO.... that cylinder was real eating at me and im having it sleeved. now i know im nuts... but i plan on keeping the truck forever. does anyone think there would be a benefit to putting a river city stage one cam in it??? has anyone used these? are cons to using it? or should...

Thats precisely what i was thinking. i like the angle of the cut.

Yep. lubed up the cylinders and the ball hone, put the drill on low and worked the drill as fast as i could for about 10 to 12 strokes each time. I had to really stay on it... i agree with Tiha on needing good shoulders and elbows. So i have to go pick up the heads, clean up the front cover...

Sweet. That was my feeling, but i never rebuilt a motor before. Im digging the hone job. Its not all out but i may just leave well enough alone here. That was a 220 hone. I guess i can go more course but i don't think it will ever be perfect.

Its not a lobe. You are correct, cowboy. its the journal. Its indented. But technically the bearing has surface to ride on either side of that mark... and force will not be exerted directly on that spot as it would be on a lobe with the pressure from the lifter. Still not 100% comfortable with...

Any thoughts on that spot on the cam?^^^ I may take a look at the one that is in the truck now....but that causes a few more problems. Idk

Yes i was looking at them. I have another block to try in on. I would start light and work up. Maybe 320? If not enough progress go to 240? I dont see me doing any damage if i use common sense.

910's... if i wanted t try and hone it myself... i figure if it doesn't work i can get it bored... what type of hone/hones would i use?

Yeah. im bringing the block tomorrow. If that's what he recommends ill be glad to go that way... save the money on pistons. The truck has 238/80s and a 38r so im more concerned with the rotating assembly. Im more at peace with the fact im changing all the bearings.

So she's empty. I thank everyone for their input and im sure i will be coming back for help on the rebuild. The shop that has my heads can bore it. It was just a misunderstanding. Has anyone dealt with littlepowershop.com in west PA for parts before? Or recommendations for a place to buy a kit?

    Pitted cylinders

Yeah i agree completely. Just need to find a shop to do it. I got it on the stand today and pulled the pistons. One other has some slight pitting. But the other 6 look great. I have to tear this down completely to get it bored, correct? Front cover, cam, crank etc.?
  17. P

    Pitted cylinders

Yes the motor was running ok. But im not doing this just to put it back together with a score cylinder. I have to find a shop that can do it... i don't think the the shop i brought the heads to can bore the block. Ill have to find out tomorrow.
  18. P

    Pitted cylinders

Yes you can feel it. Wd and microfiber rag. I dont think i have a machine shop up here that can bore it. Im going the get the pistons out and see if there's any others.

So i cleaned up the cylinders and found this... What do i do? i see you can get sleeves. im guessing you need special tooling to replace a sleeve.
