Tuning the 7.3 in current times

I agree. The whole "starting with well used cores" just exaggerated the issue.

Tuning the 7.3 in current times

My injectors are all remans from unlimited diesel. They are smoky at cold startup. I think is a combination of higher mileage engines and reman high mileage injectors. I don't really think it's any single builder screwing up the rebuild. More likely the quality of cores is deteriorating as the...

Tuning the 7.3 in current times

I've run 160-180/80s for years in tow rigs, and they worked well for me. A lot of guys dislike them, especially at high rpms (race type scenario). I could see that, I guess, but in a more stable application, they worked well. A tight 38r, a good aftermarket hpop, dual fuel, and a zf6, php and...

    Hard steer question/issue

Caster needs to be adjusted. I've got an excursion does the same thing. These trucks should be set -3* to -5 ish. Bigger tires exaggerate any kind of barely noticeable issue quickly.

Couldn't hear any buzz, neither could my son.

    Stumped again

So I tried a different idm as suggested, no change. Checked ohms through all the injector circuits at the idm plug, all were at 3ish. However, I didn't see any power to the idm. I checked with the key on, engine off, obviously. Went back and swapped the idm relays with a couple different...

Tuning the 7.3 in current times

Was that on the hydra, or a ts chip? The tunes are the same, method of delivery matters, sometimes, lol. I have one truck with a hydra, the other three are still ts chips, with nothing wrong with them. Other than the wrong tunes for the setup I want to run.

    DIY fuel system

I doubt this guy will see your post, since it's dated 11 years ago. There is a pretty decent list right after the post you quoted...

I don't know, really. I was just fiddling around to see how the app worked. I'll check it out, but I don't really it's designed to do that much indepth. It did clear the codes.

Torque pro thru the obd2 Bluetooth says I have 150-160 rpm, cranking. I still need to find a pinout for the idm to verify power there, just gonna continue to be a side project, I guess.

That's the plan. 3k psi at the rail, I'd say long enough, lol.

I don't think the scan gauge reads rpm without a 5v adapter, maybe. I'll check that out, and see if that's a possibility. I've had this one for about 15 yrs, lol. It's not the " 2" version.

It is the original pcm, but gh tuning doesn't shut off pats unless they are specifically asked to do so. I reset the pats for s&g, but the light is flashing as it always has.

    Stumped again

Yes I've had the 42 pin connector apart and back together several times, no problems there. Didn't pay attention to the tach while cranking, if that's what your asking. How would I check rpm signal with a meter? I

    Stumped again

The was the last project on the way out the door, so no, I didn't check for power, just plugged another idm in to see if it would fire. I guess I don't know which pin(s) to check for power.

    Stumped again

Well, idm swap didn't change anything. What are the chances all eight injectors are bad, lol. Pcm maybe? That's the only other change, pulling the chip, but I've never seen a pcm that only worked with the chip in.

    Stumped again

Idm is between the inner and outer fender, I don't think I can get to it without pulling one or the other. Never had to, lol. I have cranked with the icp sensor unplugged, no difference. Ipr controls the amount of oil allowed to bypass the injectors, at the pump, and that appears to be working...
