So, I’ve got a 99 F250 super cab short bed with a 7.3 and 4x4 and I’m looking into doing a dual rear wheel swap. I’ve been doing some digging in the forums and I’ve seen a few examples done before, but am not 100% sure where to start, I’d like to use a rear end thatd drop right in with little to no fab required, I know that F350 of the same year used a Dana 80, so I would think it’d be fairly easy to swap one in. The truck primarily hauls a toy hauler and a gooseneck cattle trailer so the swap would be a nice addition to an already cool rig, has anyone ever done one of these swaps before? If so, what rear end did you go with? Any problems along the way? Thanks!

99-03 dual axle will swap right in. Depending on body style, you may need to swap the rear joint. Check your driveshaft, but it should be fine.
I swapped one into a 4dr short bed with no modifications.
Seriously assess your current leaf springs before you start, this is a great time to swap them if they need it.
And, check out your new axle throughly, the last one I did cost 3k to have rebuilt, with an Eaton trutrac and new rotors.

Thanks for the info! Going to try and find a Dana 80 with rims, hopefully someone would want to trade one for a 67 Buick Wildcat… the Buick’s lease in my garage is up and needs to find a new home lol… im going to be doing a bed swap soon for a modified M105 military trailer box and thought now would be a good time to start looking for a cheap dually rear to chuck at it
