Up for sale is my 03 Excursion Limited 6.0L 4x4. I bought this 2 years ago from previous owner who had it for 100K miles. It had 232K miles and I drove it a few weeks until the cold start issues started to bother me. I took the truck to High Velocity Diesel Performance after searching for reputable shop that had extensive power stroke knowledge. What sold me on this place is the owner took time to answer each and every question explaining and detailing all scenarios. Not knowing what was wrong with we agreed to take it all apart and fix any and everything that was not up to standard. He pulled the engine out and broke it down to the short block. There were bad injectors, seals, gaskets, missing IPR screen and bad harnesses. The bigger things replaced were injectors, turbo, HPOP, radiator, AC condenser, fan clutch, ICP, IPR, glow plugs, auto locking hubs (all Ford OEM) along with many other smaller components. In all it was about 10K in both replacement and aftermarket parts. On the performance side it had new head gaskets and ARP studs after heads were checked for flatness and cracks. It has the updated oil cooler, Blue spring mod, 6.4L banjo bolts, updated turbo lines, coolant filter, new intercooler boots, turbo back exhaust, updated pushrods, EGR and cat delete and SCT Livewire TS loaded with IDP tunes. I drive and tow on the street tune and get tankful avg of 17 mpg in summer and up to 23 mpg on highway empty. I had chassis work at Ford including new alternator, front hub including seals, power memory heated seat module, rear heat blend actuator and front brakes, rotors and caliper pins (all Ford OEM). New starter was replaced by independent shop (Ford was booked) with new Ford starter. The truck has synthetic trans fluid and the engine runs with Rotella T6 full synthetic and replace the Ford fuel filters every other oil/filter change. The coolant system was flushed and filled with Amsoil ELC which is long life with no particulates (that clog coolers) and also nontoxic. I run diesel additive in each tankful for injector/pump longevity.

Now the cons: The water pump is going bad and needs replacement soon. I would have had it done when it was in shop but I didn’t have replacement Amsoil ELC coolant at the time. The front stabilizer end links were replaced before I bought the truck at Firestone (with new tires) but are making a knocking noise sometimes when going over bumps. The truck has a few dents on the exterior that were there when I bought it. The top side has an area where the paint is almost down to the metal but there is no rust. The driver’s seat has wear marks but the heated seats work perfect (great on cold days).

The truck is fully loaded with both power heated seats, AM/FM in dash CD changer, power extendable mirrors, power pedals, power rear vent windows, lighted running boards and rear back up sensors. The truck has 4 captain’s chairs and a bench so it can carry 7 people. It also has an aftermarket DVD player (with remote) mounted that worked until recently. The last 2 occasions it loaded the DVD but wouldn’t play them. It has the Prodigy brake controller professionally installed because I use this to occasionally tow my travel trailer.

This truck now has 248K trouble free miles. I never had any engine issues and my temp deltas are normally 3-5F and maybe 4-9F when towing 9K. This has been my daily driver and part time tow vehicle. The only reason I am selling is that I need to have 5th wheel hitch capability. I have 14K in receipts from High Velocity Diesel Performance and about 4K from Ford but being realistic with price at 12K obo. They do not make these anymore own the last of the diesel SUV’s that can carry 7 AND tow heavy. This 6.0L has been trouble free and with the mods powerful and efficient.

Please contact Joe at (773) eight79-O681 or rowekmr(at)aol.com with any questions and more pics request. I apologize the weather here didn’t allow me to take better ones. All receipts from HVDP and Ford (most under warranty) are available.

Thanks I never planned on selling it but I need a dually. I neglected to say it has stock tune, stock tune minus EGR, street and extreme street tune. I used extreme tune twice and it accelerated like a sports car. I did a timed (on SCT) 0-60 run in 5.9 sec and that is without a boosted start!
Nice looking truck!

Put it on ebay bud, I couldn't give mine away on here and sold it right away on ebay for a couple grand more than I was originally planning on asking.

Because we agreed that no matter what I was going to get the studs and HG and he either does that by lifting cab or removing engine. In my case he decided to remove engine (maybe because of available lift) I dunno why but I actually preferred that method myself. He sent pics along the way and kept me updated. 4 injectors were bad and the oil screen was missing in the valley so we decided to replace all injectors and the HPOP for insurance. I already wanted the ICP and IPR replaced beforehand when I read about the issues with them so those were automatically replaced along with one needing a harness. I can give you his number or email and you can get more details on what was done. The shop has a website and FB page that you can check out. I called every shop within 3 hours commute of me and only his shop in WI and another in IN felt like knowledgeable shops to me. He answered each and every question I had for months before I even brought the truck out there.
Nothing to do with the sale but why did they pull the motor completely out if it only had cold start issues?

engine removal for studs on Excursions, ambulances, Econolines, or if the body has a built in roof rack or any other built in aparatus that cab cant come up.... best way... plus with these cab getting older, I see it being the only way when the mounts and bolts start rusting and seizing..

I'm trying to talk a buddy of mine into buying it! He wants a Cummins but likes excursions so I told him about this one and he was ready until he saw the mileage. I'll keep trying though!
