2003 pistons compared to 2004+ pistons

What the hell is the difference?
Apparently $425.00 is the difference on one vendors site for the 2003 pistons...
I never knew there was a difference.
Can someone esplain dis please...

Only thing I have ever read was a more efficient piston bowl design. Idk how much different it is.

In a true 2003 motor the cam, pistons, and glow plugs are different.

Cam is more aggressive
glow plugs are longer
Pistons are shorter (from what I understand... it was to account for the more aggressive cam, and longer Glow plug)


That is why you cannot put 2003 glow plugs in a 2004-2007 because it will hit the piston.


This is another reason why 2003 trucks tend to make more power... it is almost like have shaved pistons and a cam added to a 2004-2007

Oh, I know all about the longer glowplugs...:doh:
I just don't see the point of buying a set of Pistons that cost an extra $450.00, when your running an aftermarket cam, and having the bowls de lipped anyways.
