2006 Drivers Side Dash Cubby/Storage Box R&R?

Broke the latch on the Drivers Side Dash Cubby/Storage Box on my 2006 KR. Got the new part but cant seem to get the old one out. I can get it open but not able to remove it. Seems like it should just pop off but it is giving me a hard time...

Anyone have experience with this part?
