I only mention because i know someone messing with this now and still working on the answer

The only issue would be the rear axle vss for the trans-spedo on a pre '11 truck.

'05 up axles in 99 up trucks we do here at the shop and DIY isn't bad at all.

The X has 4 wheel abs. I would imagine if that truck only has abs is the rear, that by leaving the front disconnected, he should be just fine.

are you sure it does not have the typical truck style 3 point ABS the rear being the VSS

I think I saw a thread over on the ORG recently where someone is having trouble installing a 2011+ in an earlier truck for that very reason. The only thing they said was coming out of the pumpkin is the pigtail for the electric locker. ABS was two separate leads at each end. I'm guessing it has something to do with traction control functions.
