I want to lift my truck, but i didn't want to lift it until I have money for wheels and tires too. Can I just buy the lift and just put the shocks on until I'm ready to swap out leaf springs? The suspension is killing my back right now on long drives

I don't think the ride is going to improve with a shock that is under that much extra compression. Depending on the length of travel it might not be able to absorb much movement and then you run the risk of damaging the shock.

I have done exactly what you are asking. The rear shock are no problem. To keep the longer front shocks from bottoming out I drilled some extra holes in the shock mounting bracket and moved it up a couple inches. It has only 2 bolts but it has been that way a while and no issues. This allows you to run the lift kit shocks on stock height truck.

Will superduty 98-04 shocks fit on a 97? I've read some other threads and it looks like that would work too
