Ok so I'm getting to the point in the parts ordering phase that I'm almost done with buying for the motor and need to gather some parts for the transmission. With the setup that I'll have in the spring it should be good for 800-900 based on other setups. Regardless, I need a tranny that will hold. After doing a fair amount of reading on pretty much all the forums it sounds like the convertors are one of the weakest links (with exception to the shafts in high hp setups). I've narrowed down to the RCD and DPC convertors. DPC rates their convertors at 750hp I believe, but shone has been running one in his 1000hp truck for a while iirc, although I'm not sure if it's an off the shelf product. RCD seems to be holding up on the high hp setups fairly well after talking to a few guys running them and stall can be bumped around a little bit for a single setup that I'll be running. Any input on this? Tentative plans are to go with a full billet 5r at the moment, but a 4r isn't out of the question. I'm hoping Jared will chime in with some input.

I've had a DPC in mine for the past year and loved it. I sent it back once cause I broke an input but its held up to everything I can throw at it.

Happy with my RCD 1600 RPM stall. Obviously that wouldn't be ideal for the setup you'll be running, but the converter is awesome. They can get you other stalls and the warranty is excellent. From what I hear, the DPC converters are awesome too. Several high horsepower trucks (including Mike's ^^^) have had great success with them.

What stall are you running? From their site it looked like they only offer pretty low stalls.

Hmm that's helpful to know. Have you tried any other housings besides the 1.10 and bigger?

DPC or RCD are great converters. You cant go wrong with either. My RCD is holding up great.

I'm fairly certain Phil (DPC) can make it whatever stall you want. He is a really nice guy, great to work with.
Give him a ring and ask about the new even stronger converter he is working on. It may be ready by the time you need one for install.

Thanks shone. How long have you had your dpc convertor in there? The truck will see a fair amount of comp time so I think one of these two are the choices for. I may have to give dpc a call and pick his brain.

Wanted to see how it would do as a single. With a little low boost fueling adjustment it drives great. Now if could stop breaking hard parts in the trans I'll be good lol

If your going single route you will want the stock 7.3 stator... We can get you set up with the right converter if you want

I was curious as I plan on going with a .9 housing on my single.

What brand of convertor do you guys sell/what is the stock 7.3 stall? I'll be running a single 75mm and would like to keep the tranny glued together lol
