I've been lurking for a few months now I'm making my first post. I know there have been threads on this but instead hijacking someone elses I thought I'd start my own. Plan on getting a 6.4 ccsb in a few months and just wanna make sure my ducks are all in a row when I buy one. I plan on doing a dpf delete, egr delete, spartan tuner, intake, straight pipe, and possibly studs to start. Feel free to add something I forgot..

Questions

1. From what I can tell there isn't any difference or changes made between 08-10 that would are worth noting?

2. Should I plan on getting a built tranny at some point or with stock be able to handle a 275 or 310 spartan tune?

3. I heard some horror stories with heat cracking heads etc.. would a aftermarket radiator or something else be a good step to safe gaurd against this? Or is it over kill with the mods i have listed?

Thanks I'm still pretty green so be easy on me!

Welcome.

I think Job 3 trucks have an extra layer in the head gaskets. There are some other changes too but nothing major.

The heads cracking is from high egts. A rad wouldn't solve this. The only real cure for high egts is bigger or more efficient turbos.

You will need a trans depending on how hard you drive the truck. I got over 120,000miles out of my stock trans running the 275 with out issue. Just didnt beat on it.

Welcome, check out all the sticky threads for a wealth of info also. As stated above, there are minor changes between years, but nothing major. Add a 71 or 72 to the build and it should keep EGT's down, then start saving for trans upgrades if you drive it hard.
