I recently pulled the trigger on a 2008 cc/sb f350. The engine runs and has full power but smokes. From what I know, it seems to be either a faulty injector or the emissions system. I sent the injectors off to be checked and am in the process of finding a *** dele*te kit. Now for the build portion...
The turbos checked out fine, so I'll more than likely stick to the stock set up.
The block and heads checked out fine, so no problem there.
For tuning, I'm planning on purchasing a ******* phalanx tuner from Rudy's.
The rebuild kit I bought has head studs so I don't need to worry about blowing a head gasket.
I'm planning on sticking with the stock injectors. While browsing the forums in learned that stock sticks can handle up to 650-700 HP.
Now for Pistons. I'm aware that stock Pistons have a tendency to crack, so what do I need to purchase to increase the reliability? I'm shooting for around 600-650 ponies and don't want to have to redo all the work I did due to a piston giving out. I believe I've read somewhere that most guys are going with delipped pistons and a ceramic coating. Is this what I need? And also, would I need to have to Pistons machined with valve reliefs?
I've read that the stock rods are very robust and can handle around 800hp, so I shouldn't have a need to change them.
Will this setup get me anywhere close to 600 hp? If not, what do I need to get there? This truck will mainly be a dd as I move to college next year. I would like to have the added performance, but not if its going to cost me reliability. Thank you!
