I have an 08 6.4 powerstroke. Recently deleted (about 1000 miles ago). I've been looking to see what safe egt's are for the truck because I would not like to replace head gaskets or any expensive parts. I currently run a spartan 250 tune and drive it only on weekends for the most part. What is the safe egt temp for the truck? I currently get about 400 degrees out of the last sensor on the exhaust. Is this a safe temp?

Thanks

400? Cruising around? Idling? 1250 degrees @ WOT or pulling is the most I'd go. Others will chime in I'm sure.

400 just cruising. Most I've seen is 475-500 getting on it a fair amount. Have t really seen them go over 500 stepping on it hard. This is on the last sensor in the exhaust pipe.

you are watching the wrong sensor. what you need to see is pre-turbo temps. i wouldmt run over 1400 for prolonged periods. i bet in the 250 tunes you will see 1550+

I used to see 1800 degrees or more on a regular basis with my late 08 running Innovatives Extreme Race tune lol. I drove that truck hard and it never gave me any major problems in 50 thousand miles. Just make sure your not over 1250 for any long period of time and you should be fine.
