I changed the exhaust on the lariat today from the 4in to the FX4's 5in. one thing the 4 in had bungs and had EGT sensors in it. The 5in has no bungs and no sensors so I took out the sensors out the 4in unplugged them from the frame rail and put in on the shelf. So now the lariat has the 5 in and no sensors at it lopes and high idles. What you guys think? No codes normal coolant/oil temps. Thanks in advance.

What tuner? If SCT you need the sensors attached. Doesn't matter if they are in te pipe or not they need to have a closed curcut

Take out all the sensors and plug them into the correct location, that should fix the issue, plug them in and zip tie them out of the way

I am not sure if the DPF-R requires the sensors to be plugged in but if plugging in the sensor eliminates (and I believe it will) this problem, you can eliminate Spartan and H&S as the programmer on you truck.
FYI these sensors are not the EGT sensor that you hear guys talking about all the time (when they say 1200). That sensor is pre-turbo.

I had this problem as well carfully removed sensors from DPF and plugged them into truck and zip tied them and my idle went back down. i did manage to mangle one and had to get a new one from ford. it was about 40 bucks... and you need the three metal ones not the plastic one

Maybe it is a DPF-R or SCT tune on the truck then.

So the two tuners that need the sensors is a SCT or DPF R correct?

is there a way too find out what kind of tune the truck has on it?

I am not sure if the DPF R has to have them plugged in. I forgot about Edge since no runs their programming....not sure if they be to be plugged. The DPF R is currently the cheapest tuner that will allow for the DPF to be deleted. Finally, to the best of my knowledge, there is no way to tell which tuner is in on your truck. If decide you want more power you couuld take your truck to Ford and let them reflash so you are basically starting from scratch.

Plug the sensors in real quick and see if it goes away. If it does just zip tie them up out of the way. Some tuners require the sensors be electrically plugged in but not in the exhaust.

Worse case someone deleted the truck and untuned it. If that's the case you'll need to get one.
