6.4 or keep my 6.0

i found a 6.4 crew cab lariat f250 6.4 with 102k miles on it for 25000. i currently have an 04 crew cab lariat f250 with 62000 miles on it. should i trade in my 04 for the 08? what are the pros/cons

pros are better interior and more power.

cons.....well I cant think of any compared to a 6.0 besides higher insurence LOL

6.0 is cheaper to fix, easier to work on,

Repairs are MUCH cheaper. I like both but am a big 6.0 fan.

If a 6.4 breaks sometimes it can get really ugly. But good tuned power.

Decisions on you lol if keep yours with that low of miles

Coming from a guy that has had 7.3,6.0,an a 6.4 pumping 1000horse. I wish I would have kept my bulletproofed 6.0. Fun, reliable, horsepower

Always have a spare 3k for a 6.4 in case something goes. More 6.4 grenading threads pop up each day (although they are running more power)

I like the 6.4, but here's how I think of it,

6.0 injector problem- replace injector

6.4 injector problem (usually stick open) new motor. Lol

The 6.4 walks softly and carries a big stick. The 6.0 makes all the right noises but doesnt strike fear in the hearts of Duramax drivers like a tuned and deleted 6.4. But Im biased, and always error on the side of power.

Then again you have to ask yourself how much power do you really need?

As a matter of fact, of the last 104,000 miles all but about 200 miles the truck its been run in stock tune with more than enough power in stock form (unlike my 7.3 or 6BT Cummins). I only really turn it up if Im "showing" somebody what the truck is capable of or racing.

I believe if you have to ask, your mind is probably already made up, I know mine was once I rode in one.

if I had a low mile 6.0, I'd keep it and buy a 6.4! :D

meanwhile, I have a 6.4 that I absolutely LOVE, but I'm looking at a low mile 6.0 to add to the fleet LOL

I agree with Powerstrokeracing.

6.0 breaks, you either fix it yourself or pay someone 1 or 2 grand. 6.4 breaks its gonna cost way more and you probably can't do it in your driveway. I could have bought an 08 for the same price I paid for my 07 (dealer vs. private sale). The repairs are what scared me away, but I'll admit the 6.4 was a lot nicer

What repairs have you had to do on your 07?

I had to do thermostats on my truck at about 135k. that $300 ate me up! :(

cool... I see lots of them at my buddy's shop getting heads/gaskets/coolers/etc.

Usually ends up in the $4-6k range.

I'm not scared of either of them. I'd rather have the 6.4 for the same money. You get a lot more for it IMO

4-6K and you got a dang good truck. I like 6.4's only problem is price of repair. I honestly feel like you could get one to run forever or nuke a motor anytime.

i think keep 6.0 its got all known fixes and once they are done i got a good life cycle from mine.
known enemy vs unknown 6.4
