We pull a 4 horse with 14'? living quarters with no issues what so ever. Ive seen it happen too but its not because it was short bed, its because of driver error

I'll agree that it is completely avoidable with a capable driver. Most of the time it happens when a guy let's his wife drive.

So I started a thread for general drag build questions, but it didnt take off so I am going to muck your thread up Moto. LOL What is the ideal wheel diameter to go with to get the best selections/price on drag tires? I know 4X4 is best for traction, but I have found an awesome deal on a 2wd. Like 6000 less then the same truck in 4X4. Is it still worth it to spend the extra cheese to get the 4X4?

Well I guess that's a question for the guys that have already run these drag setups. Personally I'm going to pull and race with my truck, so I need a 4x4. But I'm sure with a 2wd. ( correct me if I'm wrong guys) put some soft springs on the front, some fat slicks in the back. And get weight transfer to kick in on the launch to aid in traction. These 6.4s are nasty so I'm not sure if you will have issues or not with ^^that setup

And another question. Are you going to downsize brakes in the rear? Or just do a built 9

Well I am finding the 4x4s in the 14k to 20k range. Just found a 2wd for 8k. As for the setup I will lesve the rear axle stock for a while. Initially I will do the intake, tuner and exhaust. Then work on weight reduction, suspension and traction. Then get further in to the build. All the basics will be done first. I will do as much as I can all at once so I dont have to keep pulling the cab. I know a 4x4 is going to be my best option, but if I can get it to hook for a reasonable price I may just go with the 2wd.

Is the weight reduction of a 2wd really worth it? Seems to me if you had any remote chance of wanting to street drive it and mess with people on the street I'd want 4x4. To me it removes one of the most important variables...hooking it up!! Also what's it going to take suspension wise to get a 2wd to hook? Worth it cost wise?

I'm thinking the truck is a ECSB 4x4. Then
Gasser springs
No block in the rear (maybe pull a leaf depending on Stance)
Traction bars
Pull the seats and anything else you don't need daily(extreme reduction for racing)
Intake, pipe, programmer and EGR (they are heavy!)
Build the tranny (my boarder patrol truck would slip in x-street or above had 140k)
Put some rubber on it
At this point you'll have a mid to low 11 truck...if the spray it maybe even better

Cab up is a whole nother story lol

Well cost is the concern here. I mean I might end up having to drop the 6 grand in the damn suspension to hook, when all thst could have been avoided by getting the 4x4. I will put it out on the street occasionally. And ibwill be stripping the interior and only leaving 2 bucket race seats with HD carter pins for the passengers side to remove it at the track. Cab up I plan on studs, fuel, and air. Ill spray it as well. I love the knowledge of this forum and everyones willingness to help. I think I will end up with a pretty successful truck at the strip. If it wasnt for the forum I wouldnt attempt half the scit I do because of lack of knowledge. LOL

Seems the guys in Chicago are selling ECSBs for 13.5k with around 100k on them. They are X gov. Vehicles.

Wild Phil.. Regular cab? I got my ECSB with no back seat or center console already... Might be able to drive those Chicago guys down if they'd need the parts to put in another truck they are selling. See if they'll drop 1500 of one for a stripped interior..

Yeah they have a truck right now that is exactly what i want, but my credit union will not finance anything not titled for Texas, which is my only complaint with them. The earliest i will buy would be June, but it will probably ne after August unless i find a really bad a§§ deal.

The back bench seats in a ECSB only weight like 20-30 lbs. remove a battery, run a single turbo, and all the other weight reduction stuff you mentioned and you will easily be under 7,000 lbs in a 4x4. in the end it's all personal preference. Do you want/need the extra room a EC has to offer? Sometimes it's nice to haul the family around with a dog in the back of your race truck on weekends. To me that was the main selling point.

If you look at the big picture chances are you will not be breaking records, just a fun high 10-11 second truck. For that reason I say get a ECSB and don't look back

I took my ccsb to the track last weekend for friday night lights out, its a arm drop like pinks. There are 2 old guys there with square body chevys that run 7.40-7.50 ish normally. I have had it handed to me racing one of them, before my last build. Last week I raced the other one he got me by about a truck lenght but he was spraying the snot out of that thing. My goal in life right now is to build a diesel that will beat the pants off them. My cc is just too nice of a truck to start pulling weight out of and trying to make it a race truck. This is my reason for wanting a rc, I want to make it as light as I can while keeping it streetable. If I tear it up It wont be as bad as having my dd down and be stuck driving my work truck.

I think a 2wd would be great if you can get it to hook, maybe a big single would have enough lag off the line to aid in hooking it up. I know with my max powers I would need some really sticky tires and would just have to learn how to launch it without blowing the tires off. I'm just not sure the weight dif of a 2wd would make up on the big end for what is lost at the line.

you already have MAX powers??

Mercy, 4x4 regular cab with max powers and some sticks and some sticky tires would be a freakin monster... both street and track

What's the weight difference in 2x4 and 4x4?

I just put them on my cc a few weeks ago, I have had a few issues(cracked block at a stud) but think I have it all worked out. I want to find a rc pull my motor and trans and swap them out, put the cc back to just tune and my 71mm atmo. It was a fun reliable setup. I can't imagine how fun a rc with my setup will be:evil

I don't know the weight of a rc 2wd but it has to be 6-700ibs lighter, not to mention rotating weight.
