Starting to feel the signs tranny will need to be rebuilt/overhauled eventually.
I'm mechanically inclined with a garage full of most tools, but never rebuilt a transmission, only a wheel horse tractor transaxle once.

Is this a job that a do able or wicked difficult?

Any advise is appreciated

If it's anything like a 5r, leave it to the pros.

You can put a generic rebuild kit in a 6R140, it may last slightly longer than your stock 6R140 did.

Plenty of people have gone the cheapo way with just overhaul kits and end up having to do the job over.

There is more than just putting clutches in these things to make them hold, both our street and comp units have substantial machining done for extra capacity, etc, and we have our own little tricks to making them take the extra power abuse we throw at them
