They're all over the place here in my area for 10k and under. 10k will get you a hell of a nice truck. 6-7k for a decent fixxer upper.

Any preference on cab configurations? Short bed, long bed? 2wd, 4wd?

When I get back from running errands I'll look em up. Depending on your location in TX, kansas isn't too bad of a drive.

Regular cab or maybe even an EC short bed and 2wd are the stipulations. XL, XLT or Lariat doesn't matter. Just want to make something a little low and sporty. We'll have a couple years to make it nice before he is able to drive it.

The 2wd trucks are easy to find when you aren't looking for them. If I was truck shopping right now I'd have tons of 2wd trucks to list for ya.
