For any of you A/C gurus, please share your advice. Thank you!

I just replaced my A/C compressor with a Motorcraft YCC208, brand new with 7 oz of oil installed. The instructions say to drain and measure the oil from the old compressor. Mine appears to be empty, I rotated the pulley 10 times and no oil. The instructions don't cover an EMPTY compressor.

Am I good leaving all 7 oz in? The whole system only takes 9 oz.

Thank you, again!

Yes I stressed a lot on this when I rebuilt my AC system. Kind of vague instructions. Since I put a new drier, new condenser and flushed the rest, I put all the oil indicated for a new system. 9 oz IRRC.

Also my AC tech reference person indicated he always drains out the oil in the new compressor because he wants to be sure, and it could have moisure contamination from storage.

I replaced my drier, too, and added 2 oz to it. I think I lost about an ounce during installation.

I left the 7 ounces in the compressor, evacuated the air for 90 minutes and filled with 3 12oz cans of R134a, the system calls for 38oz. She blows cold! Hoping it all works well.

Thanks for the input.
