Adding a different fuel filter/separator

Could I add something like this in between my tank and pump?

Then just pull out the fuel filter in the engine? Would the pump mind pulling through it?
And then would it be more effective at removing water/contaminants?

I was thinking it would make filter changes a bit easier and if it works better then great.

Would be better of pulling through a 10mic water separator pre-pump, then pushing through a 2mic filter to heads.
At least that's how the majority of us OBS guys do it using the stock SD pump.

you will want a filter between the pump and the injectors.. if that pump decides to blow up..them parts and pieces need to go some where... I prefer the filter rather then the injectors.. this is what i used...
2 Napa Filter Bases - 4770
Dual inlet and outlet 1/2" Female NPT.

1 Napa Fuel/Water seperator - 3405
1 Napa 2 micron Fuel Filter - 3528

Good to know. What micron are the factory filters?

3 micron nominal, 9 micron absolute.
At least that is what Baldwin claims their replacement filters are rated at.
