Does anyone make aftermarket 4340 rear axle shafts? I have a buddy that broke one and it ate the housing and shattered the detroit. If not, it's gonna get old replacing housings and regearing every few months.

For a Sterling 10.25 or 10.50???

WTF was he doing? I've broken about one of everything, but not that!

Upgrade to a Dana 80 if the weight is not going to be an issue. It would take a jump in power to break one of those.

It's a SD 10.5 Joe, he was getting after it with one of the local Dodge boys, twisted it off right at the hub flange. When the shaft let go the backlash shattered the Detroit which is pretty common from the shock load. He drove it about a mile home and it had eaten the end of the spindle from the inside out.

I don't think an 80 is in his plans but if another one goes it may have to be.

I'll have him check with Moser and Yukon and Dutchman as well, thanks guys.
