What causes this buildup in the 2nd ring land/accumulator groove. In only encompasses 1/3 around the piston. Is it from blowby? Is it an issue? How can it be prevented?

Maybe the rod caused it or there was already something wrong from the beginning..

I didnt really get a chance to look at the others. But ill ask tom. But it looks like accumulated carbon buildup done over time the way it tapers off and isnt present on the other side of the piston. Its epicenter of the buildup is pin side closest to rear of engine this was #8 piston drivers rear
