What is the best way to test a anti gel other than just putting in the tank and hopeing I dont gel? Thanks
I've used Power Service (White Bottle) in temps as low as -30*F (before wind chill) and never (knocks on wood) had any gelling issues. Sure....truck didn't want to start and bitched for a couple minutes, but never gelled up. I do over-dose it a little bit tho, and use TW3 2-stroke oil as well.
It seems to be more of a prevalent issue with trucks that have fuel filters on the frame rail
I only have 1 on the frame, but still....no issues.
I've noticed a lot of the people that have issues live in more southern states, and although I have no proof, my theory is they live in an area with either poorly mixed winter fuel, or still have summer fuel in the tank.
Over on CompD there were quite a few guys who have had issues with Power Service and gelling. Majority lived in cold northern states
Its no secret what keeps fuel from gelling. You will see companies that can make a good product have issues pop up when they are not ISO 9001 compliant. Its a PITA to keep the ISO standards, but it pays off in consistency. Some of our products are checked 30 times from the base oil entering til the final product leaves. We do it for the 100 million dollar turbines our oil goes into. But it benefits all our customers from the 10 gig power gen plants to the guy with a Sthil weed whacker.
And if that's the case, maybe I'm just lucky.
Of course, if you knew me better, you'd KNOW that wasn't the case, LOL
