Like the title says, I was wondering if anybody has taken the clear LMC cab lights apart? I mean like taking the lense off to get the led out, it has the stock hole that the stock socket fits into, looks like it anyway under all of the glue. I am just wondering because a buddy bought some and I threw one on my truck and liked it, but I don't want to cut apart my factory harness, it would bug me. I know I have seen where people bake lights in the oven and seperate the lense from the housing, and wondered if I could apply it to this situation? I would like to retain the factory harness and bulbs. If it's not possible, no big deal, I won't put them on, but just wondering. Any help is appreciated.

I put those lights on my truck, pretty sure I kept my wiring harness as is.

These were just bought and have wires coming out that would have to be spliced in and I don't want to do that. I just looked and you can't buy just the lenses, you have to buy them with the leds.

I just found out you could do that. I wasn't sure if it was obsolete. I know I am weird, but I like things done right and I don't really care for splices that much.

I have these cab lights on 2 different trucks. Love the look but the leds are junk. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. Sometimes only 1/2 leds per light work. Was considering going to the recon clear dodge lights but prefer the factory look. Let me know what you find out.

I think I am just going to get new pigtails for them that way I can easily go back to completely stock if need be. I may still try it if they screw up on me, but hopefully they don't. How long did yours last before messing up?

After what you said this morning, I watched some videos and did some looking and I am going to try and bake them. It actually looks pretty easy, LOOKS esay. I am going to give it a shot though, if I mess them up, oh well I guess, wouldn't be the end of the world. When I do it I will do a write up on it I think. It will be a while before I do it though, gotta get some money saved up.

It's a pigtail that goes from the factory in truck harness, and just has wires on it, you would need to splice to the new light but the factory truck harness would be untouched. So are you saying the led is notdoesnt have the factory connector on it, or that you want to modify the led?

Kinda both. The LMC led replacement lights do not have a pigtail on them to just "plug into" the factory harness. So you either need to cut that pigtail off the original cab light or buy new pigtails for them. Also, the LED's are prone to going out or messing up so I'm interested in taking the lights apart in order to repair or replace them.

I would like to ditch the led, I just put that set on my buddy's truck last night and I don't really care for the way they look. I would like to get the leds out and use the factory light if possible. They lights will accept the factory socket, the way it looks, there is a lot of glue on the back. The lights do look bad a$$ on my buddy's truck, so they will be going on my truck someday, hopefully this winter.
