Are my vanes sticking?

At cruising highway speeds upon light acceleration truck doesn't build boost resulting in a cloud of smoke. Once I give it more throttle it lights the turbo and cleans up.

Also sometimes at cruising I can hear the turbo change sounds without throttle imput. It will suddenly increase boost I look at the guage which verifies boost jumped for no reason.

Yes they are sticking. Acts just like mine. If I accelerate somewhat hard up to speed and hit the cruise it will not build boost. I have to let it coast for a second or two and then the vanes will come back and build boost.

Check ebp pressure koeo as well. Ebp is the primary input for turbo vane control. Ebp koeo should be damn close to map and baro, if any of them are out more than 1.5 or more psi, it is probably bad.
