You can't get 3 bolts out cab on FYI. To do the job cab on you have to pull the heads. 2 bolts on the lower rear passenger side and 1 bolt lower rear drivers side come out with the head and the bolts/studs go back in the head before installing the heads.

Quick question to anyone who has done this... 325ft/lbs at the final torque? I better eat some wheaties

I just took a set of ARP bolts to my Ford dealer to install this morning.

The ARP's only Tq to 225-245lbs! It was the H-11's that go to 325lbs.

These are the instructions that came w/ my set, part # 250-4203, for the 6.4.
They max out to 275lbs. Has anyone turned these higher than that?

PRELOAD (TORQUE) RECOMMENDATIONS
8. Following the manufacturers recommended torque sequence tighten the nuts to the following specifications
with ARP ULTRA-TORQUE FASTENER ASSEMBLY LUBRICANT.

Step 1. Tighten studs 1 thru 10 to 90 ft-lbs.
Step 2. Tighten studs 1 thru 10 to 180 ft-lbs.
Step 3. Final tighten studs 1 thru 10 to 275 ft-lbs.
Step 4. Tighten M8 bolts 11 thru 15 to 25 ft-lbs.

There is says to 275, earlier you stated only up to 245 ft lbs

So the H-11 studs torqued at 190 ft lbs make 31,992psi of load and that's at just 60% of yield.

The ARP-1000s torqued at 325 ft lbs make 37944 psi of load bit that is torqued at 85% of yield.

Took this from a discussion from another forum.

Earlier I was going from memory (which sucks) on the 245#.
The info I posted above was copy and paste from the instruction PDF I pulled from the interweb.

I would make sure you have the right tq settings. Or else you will have problems.

Those ARP's get tightened to 325 ft lbs. Just took it off their site.

Can you post a link to the site for this??
I just pulled the instruction on a PDF that show what I posted earlier.

I really want to confirm this TQ amount as mine are being installed Friday or Monday.

I just called ARP. They had an older kit for the 6.4, and it was torqued to 325lbs.
The newer kits (Same part #:badidea:) only torque to 275.

The have changed something in the specs to where they are tightened down w/ less force, but still hold the same?????

Some of the older sets will have the final TQ at 325lbs, so that is what they need. Bottom line, follow the instructions w/ you specific kit.

Also, he said to lube as follows:
oil on threads into block, finger tight.
ARP lube on both side of washer
ARP lube on bottom of nut.
ARP lube on the upper threads.

I learned something today, so I am going home!

So what did they do, change the material used? Or figure out they were overstretching the bolts?

Probably changed materials
The fact that I can torque mine to 190 and clamp the same makes mr feel warm and fuzzy on the inside... should never stretch

I also just called arp... Follow your kits intructions... They changed the nuts on the newer version so there's less torque on the nut to achive the same clamping pressure...
