Back spacing

To make it easy to understand, Picture this. The center of the rim(where the lug nuts are) is so many inches from the back outer edge of the rim. Basically the "more" backspacing(more inches), the total inches from the center to the back outer lip, it moves the wheel in towards the frame. "less" back spacing, it pushes the wheel away from the frame...

That's why say a negative 44 backspacing pushes the wheel out of the fender wells and gives that stance that everyone is in love with.
Is that right? Or do i have that backwards.

what you have explained is offset. it is not the same as backspacing
