Dug around in my truck tonight and found I have a blown up pipe. I'm not in a financial position at this very moment to replace it but will be in a few weeks. Is it going to hurt anything more if I keep driving it or do I just need to park it. I'm running a lot of interstate and little towing

I will tell you this I drove 6.4 I bought drove from Albuquerque NM to California 1200 or so miles with a blown driver side uppipe. EGTs hitting 1600 + degrees (monitoring with a dashdaq) couldn't go over 30 on hills truck but I had to be in California in 2 days had no time to stop and fix it. I stopped at some places to let it cool down and rest ,checked coolant, oil, blow by etc Truck had 260,000 miles with a re manufactured ford complete engine and it did fine. Shipped it back to Hawaii put a set of new uppipes drove the truck for a month and sold it (That was the whole reason why I bought it)(Truck ran excellent) I was actually wanting to keep it that's how good it ran. With that said if I were I wouldn't drive the truck or if you really have to watch your EGT's and be easy on it.

The driver side up pipe is 165 from a ford dealer near me. Not sure on the pass side. But I ran mine like that for a week or two til I got around to fixing in. I didn't see any adverse effects other than more lag, and a bit higher egts. But it also depends on how bad the leak is. If it's a big one you will see a lot more lag and higher egts

Alright I'll just watch it. I'm trying to wait it out a little and do hd up pipes, head studs and possibly a turbo and just Lucy the cab up to do it all at once. Really sucks because I just had the transmission out in march

it all depends on the size of the leak.
you will lose fuel economy and it will be laggier, with much higher egts.

if it is a pin hole leak that just whistles, i would nurse it along. if it is completely broken, i wouldnt drive it. i had one that didnt even have enough power to climb a trailer and the exhaust fumes in the cab were enough to make you sick.

Stock down pipe at least for the moment. Maybe a good time to do one though. Truck still has good power and no fumes in the cab. It's a hiss and exhaust and soot coming out of the pipes. I think I'm gonna just order some new ones in and take a weekend and make a drinking party out of it.

Now there's an idea. The biggest pita thing about is it switching from being on the ground to over the engine ever few minutes and wiggling it out

I'm with force fed. Ah **** Rudys has to have these back for cores. I think I may have the opportunity to have the cab lifted off though. I'm going to have it ready for the cab to come off, put it on one of my trailers and drag it to a shop to get lifted. Get the cab off and on the trailer. Get the chassis back on the trailer and take it back to the house. I want to pull the heads check pistons, have the heads checked out. New gaskets and studs. New pipes and then just load it back up and have the cab set back on it. Go home and finish it myself
