Boost Question

Recently tuned my 6.4 and I noticed in 6th gear while just giving slight throttle my boost jumps way up. Haven't seen the reading on my tuner only see the 40psi on my dash and It jumps to 40 real fast . Is this normal? How much boost is safe ?

most non gated, stock fuel trucks will see 52psi on a race tune.

that is running almost out of the turbos efficiency range though.

Where is the boost sitting before you roll into the throttle? Like Sootie said, 52ish WOT is where most trucks run with a healthy tune to it and no gate. I could kiss 55 WOT with my mechanical gauge with stock chargers. LOL

I have found (and many others also) that with stock turbos and a hot tune, these trucks tend to boost pretty high under partial throttle when the TC is locked. Funny with mine, I can easily boost 48-50 psi under 3/4 throttle but if I go WOT the boost wont climb quite as fast.
