Well I am getting the last few pieces together for my build in january and since I will be doing pistons i was curious if I should put rods in as well since it will be torn down anyway. I have talked with a few vendors that say they are not needed and if anything they have seen more problems with aftermarket rods than stock rods. I know there are quite a few of you guys on here with big power on stock rods with no issues, I just want to do it right the first time.

What are your plans for a build that should give everyone a idea of how crazy or not you are going?

So far the parts I have are...
MPD Single Kit with steed speeds and waste gate
Elite ported intake
Elite stage 1.6 valvetrain
Elite stage 2 pushrods
Rudys duel fuelers
ARP studs
No limit Cold, Hot pipes and EGR delete
No limit intercooler
Airdog II
Elite Airdog upgrade

Parts still to order...
MPD 100% nozzles
Pistons (rudys, elite HD, or hallers coated IH, still haven't decided)
Elite stage 1 cam
and i am still trying to figure out which way I want to go on turbos, I have a 66 that i could compound with an 80 or bigger or throw a single 475 on, leanings towards the single just to see how it is. This is going to be a street strip truck and won't see winter roads, I work 10 weeks on and 3 weeks off overseas so it is my toy for when I come home
I want to be around 900 on fuel and I want to have reasonable amount of faith it's not going to scatter on me.

Unless you plan on that truck living past 4000 Rpm's and well over 1000 HP at the wheels don't bother.

It has proven to hold plenty more power than the average Joe throws at it, its no 7.3/6.7 when it come to rods.

should I buy a set of new factory rods when the motor gets torn down or run the old rods with 90k on them, also what other machine work should be done to the rotating assembly?
