We are going together with engine late this week.
Ceramic coated pistons +.020"
Full valve job with new guides etc.
OEM upper and lower gaskets/bearings
OEM oil pump
OEM oil cooler
OEM h/g with ARP studs
I am away for work but my builder buddy has asked me some questions. I searched some but did not find information in the stickys.
1. The ceramic coating confused him on "cam-side" of piston for orientation, he cant see the marks.
2. Timing of the camshaft require special tool? or is it marked like always?
3. He mentioned something about the HPFP being timed, I cant figure out why that would be timed as it is CR.
Any other input, experiences or tips/tricks welcome. We have both been in diesels quite often, just not 6.4 and don't want to pull cab again.
