Looking at buying a used 6.7. How many miles are too many in your opinion? It could be the difference in an XLT or a Lariat for me if higher miles are ok. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I think anywhere between 1-150k is not too bad to be honest. Pushin 200k may be a little much. But its all in the service!!! Get an oasis report if possibe

yep get an oasis that will tell you more than anything, from what i have seen they either have a bunch of problems early, or none even past 120k

That means its less than 3-4 years old. 150k in that time is a ton of miles. I'd be cautious on that.

Yea I know diesel seem to run for ever, but damn that a lot of miles in such a short time....maybe trying going to a 6.4...cost less and has fewer miles...

I would feel a lot more comfortable buying a 6.7 with 150k miles than I would any other Ford diesel other than the 7.3. They seem to be doing pretty good.

I must be weird. I wouldn't even look at an 08 with over 100k.

I bought a 2011 with 58k on it. bought it sight unseen from TX and had it shipped to jersey just going by some pictures and a carfax. I was happy. I wanted a specific color combo and that was the only one available in the country within reason of my price range. I have had the truck for less then a year and am at 71,500 miles. no problems at all. tuned and deleted it at 65k ish. If you are somewhat mechanically handy I would say no problem going for a high millage. ( meaning you can do regular maintenance, brakes etc on your on time and not pay a shop) And you can always buy an extended warranty. good luck!

It really depends on how long you intend to keep it and how many miles your planning on driving per year and cost of the truck of course.. 150K would be too many IMO.. If I was going to drive a truck say 20K a year and palnned on owning it for four years, I wouldn't buy anything with over 100K on the clock and I would not even consider a 6.4, JMO..

I wouldn't mind a year or 2 old 6,7 with 100-150 on it only because it would have found a weak point and even better if it has no hitches....that means somebody just drove the piss out of it. Check engine hours and an oasis if it has great maintenance records I wouldn't be scared. Only on a 6.4 lol

redroce makes a great point. check engine vs idle! although likely not many idle hours with a boatload of miles

Anyone that buys a 2 year old truck with 100-150k on it already is an idiot in my eyes. Good luck with that

On average I put between 40,000 and 50,000 miles per year for many years and when I sold my trucks they where in like new condition so I wouldn't call the buyers idiots.. It may not be for you but someone else that might not drive as much as you do and can't afford to buy a newer truck with less millage it may be just what they need..

Exactly especially people like us I've put 37k on mine since I bought it in July. I put 70-80k on mine a year and people never expect it to have half the mileage on them both my past '08 's were runnin SOB's and this 2012 is no different. And for the price I'll want for it by then most people won't turn it down.

Thanks for all the replies guys. That's about what I thought. I'm looking at trucks under 100k, but I'm finding some great deals on trucks with 105 or 110. Just out of warranty, you know? I think some folks trade when the warranty is up.

I bought mine with 90,000 miles on it. Then the next day my check engine light came on saying that egr detected insufficent flow. So i deleted it and no more problems since.

Exactly plus dealers just want rid of them they want 37k for one with 80k on it and 30k for one with 110k on it. Check the oasis and if nothing major it's up to you.

If you get one from a dealer and there is a warranty, than go for one with 100k on it. As long as they can provide you with background history on the truck, than do it. If there is no warranty but CarFax and Oasis look good, than delete and put 400k on it! Best of luck to you, these are great trucks.

I usually trade my truck right around the warranty ending period. I hate footing a $$$ diesel bill. Ford diesels don't have the best reputation lol
