^^ can't go wrong with Morgan either. Basically a "drop in" cam is going to be a "stage one" cam. Sounds like that is what you're looking for. As far as the best.... I think most stage 1 regrinds come from colt cams, and if that's the case then what it will come down to is who gives you the best price and customer service. I'm not sure what or who Elite uses for their stage 1 cams or what the specs are. Other than that, as far as the best goes, there hasn't been a back to back test for just a cam swap, mainly because of the amount of labor it takes to swap just the cam. But the difference in results of a "stage 1" between brands is probably minimal.

Stock turbos and cam? Was there much increase in power or did it just move the power band up?

Better spool up, lower EGTs. I wouldn't say so much a power increase, definitely pulls harder on the top end. I have my shift points at 3800 and all they way up until the shift it still feels like it has a lot of steam left

I have a colt stage 2 and the truck runs very well. Plenty of power

Stage 2 can be ran without valve reliefs. Just not recommended.

Just to throw this out there, not everyone's cams are colt. We don't all get them from the same place. Ask before you assume.

Who do you use for a "stage 1" cam?

All I was getting at was a lot of stage 1 regrinds come from colt.... Not saying that everyone only sells colt cams, they are just popular.

We used to use colt. But we now have our own re-grinds done here in the United States. Stage twos are colts as advertised. The stage ones are advertised as Midwest diesel cams.

Are valve reliefs still recommended on stage 1 cam? I was planning on ordering yalls kit stage 1 valve train kit this week enless the HD retainers are necessary?

I recommend valve reliefs for precautionary measurements on all cams. But the stage one should not require it. I always tell everyone they are supposed to check clearances with any cam that you install. But I doubt many do.

Geoff is great guy to deal with from COLT and knows what he is doing. There is other cams out there that are to soft. For quality of not having to do the job over is Colt. We also have them in stock ready to ship. We also have out performance upgraded lifters here as well.

There is other cams out there that are to soft.

Now this is not the case on EVERYONES cam but most cases they are too soft.
