It looks alright. I think I see a dent in it? :fustrate: :swordfight:

If I was doing it (which, granted, is a really huge if), I'd want to try to get more curve on the joints to smooth it out a little, kinda like the SD or dodge trucks get.

Just what I was thinking. Still would look good as is.

I assume by mud you mean 'bondo'?

Someone once told me that a good body guy doesn't ever have to use bondo. But I don't really believe that. Seems to me that grinding marks alone would require some filler just to get the paint to lay smooth.

Yea thats total b/s...now the amounts used is of concern, there is also so many variations of "mud".

I just typed out a big reply with pictures and my browser crashed.

Anyway. Mink is correct. There are times you need to use it and times you dont. I'm not dumping 2 gallons of filler on the hood and carving a cowl out. The repair someone else did on the front side of the bed. They beat the dent in along with the body line and mudded it up and sanded the body line in. Thats a huge no no. You can get the metal as straight as possible but its not going to be "mudless" perfect. Small dents yes, where you can get a dolly behind it and massage it.

Yup and even if you work the metal to where you think it needs to be; a skim coat to finish it up always makes it look that much better.

You ever try this yet mink?

Its $14 and I have no waste. It spreads smoother and sands better than the evercoat metal glaze as well.

This is good, but $36 and you can't get it all out of the jug.

I have used the evercoat metal glaze and was pleased, good product, I have used allot of "Iceing" for the simple fact thats its so easy to get at the local Napa and I havnt had any issues with it to date, pin holes use to be the devil when I first started the hobby but with Iceing I havnt had a single issue. Iceing does still take alittle effort to sand though.

I like the price of the Dolphin glaze but have never seen it, where do you get it? For as much body work that I get into now I think I could make that go a long way and you make it sound like a great product.

If you have a large local auto body supply shop, they should have it. It's made by U-POL. I used to get some pin holeing from time to time with the evercoat. The dolphin is more more fluid and seems to never do this. Just look at my bedsides, i basically did both sides and a fender with 2 bags. I like it, my father in law loves it and had the shop convert over.

For internet order. https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/u-pol-dolphin-glaze-finishing-putty-p-15125.aspx

Since the month of overtime is over. I had some time to crate the trans and ship it. The crate is pretty sturdy, I had it standing on its side to get it in the truck. I used some old wood from my fence, and a pallet I got out of a dumpster.

I put it in the truck myself. Stood it up on the bottom, leaned the top on the tailgate and picked it up. Wasn't was heavy as trying to pick up the trans just by itself.

Now I need to find a gas heater for the garage that will allow me to finish up the body work.

Well its been a while. The above transmission was no good for a core. I did find another core but the core condition is questionable.

Rad support appears to be salvageable.

Drivers side was a little worse.

1000lb rating my ass. It shakes like a tree, and oh boy did it sag until i put the jack stand under it. I was scared to death to go near it.

Trans is on it's way to get twisted.

So am I.

It got real old, real quick, when I had to dig the cherry picker out of my father in laws garage to use. Then dragging it around mine sucked. So I spent half of the day today making these castors. They use the leg holes when the legs are up. It so much easier putting the legs down and up because you can pivot the stand on 3 wheels. Moving the stand around the garage while it is "stored" is soooooo much easier. They are a little crude. It was 100 degrees in the garage, so I had no patience. Total cost was $10. Only thing I didn't have was hitch pins and steel castors. Everything else was laying around the garage. Need to get 4 more 1/4 x 20 bolts.

There it is, upside down. Waiting for me to pull the pan, and fix the dipstick seal. Would like to upgrade the LPOP while I am there. Injectors are out as well. Debating powerwashing this pig. I'm making the wrench tomorrow for the clutch fan.

Notice the oil spot? I was draining the oil. I had the pan up on the cross member of the stand. Don't you know I turned around to get something and it fell over. Right onto my feet and I had flip flops on.
