I am going to service my tranny shortly and was thinking of changing the solenoid out to the Suncoast.
I have Innovative tuning and truck is used mainly for towing my fifth wheel, not much driving without a load.
I run either the Tow or Street Tune depending on my load and unloaded driving I use the X-Street if I am going to be unloaded a lot, which does not happen too much. For the tranny I use the firmer shifting with early lock.
What are the pros and cons with it?
Will have to get Eric to change the tune if I put the solenoid in?
Thanks.

With the tuning of these trucks, I dont think there is much of a need for the solenoid with a stock trans. The stockers really dont slip and flare like the older ones used to (which is a main reason to have the solenoid.) As stated above, it is supposed to help the 3-5 shift be more solid. I have heard of trucks with a TCM and the solenoid slaying input shafts before, but I dont think its as common now.

If it were me, I would save the extra cash and do an extra tranny service and set of fuel filters this year.

I found out early on after tuning that when trans starts shifting erratically (particularly w/ race tunes) its clutch dust clogging solenoids. The modification Spartan makes to the tcm raises the voltage which in turn makes the oem solenoids shift faster helping to minimize this excessive dust from the clutch packs slipping. If it was me I would also save the money and swap trans filter out and put 8 qts of fresh fluid in every 20-25k. I run the Spartan TCM and change my trans filter at aforementioned interval. Almost 90k now on stock trans running race tunes 250,275,&310 50-60% of time and have had zero issues. Converter still holds strong also, no slip at lock-up. Truth be told I don't think I could expect this same trans life on stocker running 345 or 350 tho, mad torque will easily shred a stock unit in no time w/ a heavy foot.

Sun coast no longer offers the solenoid because the same thing can be accomplished with a good tune. But the 2008' oil pan and filter mod is pretty nice.
