I am in the process of removing my egr and coolers and noticed my intake and inter cooler tubes are dirty. The tubes it is just oil but the intake is caked with soot. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1348061605.341777.jpg
Is there a way to clean it up a bit? I will be deleting my ccv as well to get rid of the oil. Thanks

Only way to clean it is going to be to remove it and manually clean it, otherwise you can just get what you can reach. I have seen in some trucks equipped with meth injection that it cleans them out over time but not 100% clean.

Its the mixture of both oil vapor from the CCV and soot from the EGR that make the sludge. Eliminating just the egr its self and cleaning the intake will do a world of good, the CCV will just leave a thin film of oil.

Yeah I've got one ready to install (coolant filter). I've got one bolt left to remove on the lower cooler bracket and I can't seem to find a way to get at it. It's the one towards the front that holds the bracket to the exhaust manifold underneath. It's always the last one that gives you the most trouble...

I usually leave the bracket on, you can't see it and it doesn't hurt anything to leave it. Just use a die grinder or what ever you have to cut the bands off.

Thanks for all the help. I already have the other three off so at this point I might as well get the last one. It will probably be easier than trying to get the other three back on.

I always remove the bracket. Less weight and I get a sense of satisfaction by getting rid of any useless junk under the hood. LOL

Removing the inner fenders help alot. Definitely gotta be a contortionist to work on 6.4's cab on.

I got it. I laid across the top of the motor and reached down behind and felt my my way to the bolt. My cooler was leaking so of course everything was plastered with a greasy crud. Hopefully the delete kit doesn't take too long to get here so I don't forget how it all goes back together.
