I would Jack up the cab before cutting the firewall.
I think mine got stuck also once when I tried removing it.
If you have the room, cut the up pipe?

Usually there is one magic spot where the downpipe slides out. I've done it three times and each time was difficult but the pipe always finally came out the bottom.

On the Red sig truck I massaged the firewall at the lower end of the up pipe area. Used a hydraulic jack against the motor mount iirc. Also bent over the complete pinch weld (full width of tranny tunnel) when I had the tranny out. Pipes come out easily after that.

I have the same issue right now, my cab mounts are blown out, and it was the biggest PITA getting my downpipe in, i had to jack the body up as far as i could and actually dent the downpipe a little bit for it to slip into place. Going to be replacing the body mounts soon on mine.
