Something some people don't realize about the factory k16 is how efficient it is at self regulated the system, and keeping volume balanced between both sides. Even if the cp3 goes full tilt, the k16 will balance and bleed off excess fuel to prevent an excess rail pressure situation. Now if your factory pump were to be defective and having PCV/VCV issues, yes, you could run into issues. 99% of the vehicles we install these on gets a new k16 because I preach preventative maintenance to my customers, and that it's a lot cheaper to do right the first time

I didn't realize the K16 actually bleeds off fuel. Now that makes sense to me as to why Haller could get away with running a CP3 full fuel all the time.

The major selling point for me on the K16 based dual fuel setups was how the pump reacts when it fails. If a K16 fails, it actually bleeds the fuel out of the system. If a CP3 fails, it will go full fuel and blow apart the fuel system. Not to mention a K16 outflows a CP3 pump by about 20%. Yes, the K16 is known to not have the longevity of a CP3 due to water separation issues. However, proper system maintenance can aid in premature pump failure. Not to mention the K16 is actually a stronger pump.

This is true, but in perspective, a cp3 can be modified in a much more reliable fashion than a k16. That being said, you could throw a parsay Exergy 10mm Cp3 on with our kit and have more fuel in a more reliable fashion than any other modded k16 set up

That is one expensive dual pump kit once you add in a exergy cp3. Dual k16s should be able to handle 1300hp where a k16/cp3 will be around 1200. Big power can be had with both setups.

I know any pump can and will fail. But in terms of lasting, I am not real impressed with the K16...mine is hardly the only one that died very premature that was maintained. I typically drained my water seperator monthly or every 1-2k miles....whichever came first.
As far as failures go, an unmodded K16 can take out the injectors too, it just depends on what part fails. Jerry is a good example. On the CP3, if the ball didn't seat, it would generade. I know the early CP3s had these issues because the balls were ceremic and would chip and eventually not seat. I was under the impression the later CP3s (like for the LBZ) used steel balls which were much less likely to chip and not seat. Regardless, the life span of an average CP3 is a lot longer than the K16. I admit, I might be a little biased because right now I am still p#ssed at the pump. If I had known it was going to fail this early, I would have just followed Ford's recommendations for maintaining it.

If you were really feeling froggy you could throw an Exergy 12mm on it. I would bet that would get you to about 1800 HP on fuel...and if you are running that many ponies, there is probably a lot of other stuff that will break before your CP3 blows.

Stock single cp3s are good for around 600rwhp or so. Been proven on both dmaxes and cummins. We have had one do 710 that was said by the owner of the truck as far as he knew that his cp3 was stock. Yes, that was a freak. Not many stock cp3s can handle 50hp over sticks on a big tune. 10mm strokers are good for around 750-800. Have they made more, sure. Are they reliable there, probably not. Same goes for dual pump kits.
