Can the oem parts on eBay for a 3rd of the cost from everyone else be trusted? They come in genuine Motorcraft/Ford packaging but I am always skeptical of a deal that looks to good to be true? ICP for 7.3 $50 on eBay, $150 to 160 every where else. 7.3 IPR $160 but 300 and above everywhere else, etc...

My dad got ****ed by a set of “motorcraft” glow plugs, and glow plug control module from Amazon, so I’d say no based on that experience. I live about 500 miles from him, and had diagnosed it one weekend I was there visiting, and he bought the stuff from Amazon and put them in. Then his check engine light came back on, and trying to diag thru the phone was too hard being as he had limited stuff to diag with. So he took it to the dealer, and like $1000 later he had a couple new glow plugs and another module. Then the light came back on for other glow plugs, so I ended up doing those the next time I was out there….

Ebay seems to have a lot of fake "OEM" packaged parts. A seller will show a part that has an OEM packaging and the part shows up in a ziplock bag with an OEM sticker they printed. Amazon may sell you a part that was installed and removed and returned and resold to you. I usually do a google search for OEM ford parts and may get a dealership online sales or Ford site. I get the Ford or Motorcraft part # and search prices on their site and check other sources after I see the high prices on the Ford site. I used to get a lot of OEM parts online from a Ford dealership online in Fontana, CA. I got great prices and free shipping, well that is no more. Amazon and Ebay cannot always be trusted for factual part listings. Sometimes a legitimate site sells on Ebay, such as Summit Racing, which can be trusted. Fairway Ford sells the IPR on Ebay for $355 and even states" Watch out for the fake "Motorcraft" IPR's you see here on eBay that are from China". Riffraff Diesel has a lower priced IPRs and sells a test IPR blockoff, re-seal kits and OEM Ford and Alliant IPRs. They also have a guide on how dis disassemble and reseal an IPR valve. I would never try to save money on something as important as an IPR. Prices are stupid high since the "Covid crap excuse" ruined everything.

I'd stay away from Ebay and Amazon on parts that you need to depend on.

I have a friend who ordered brake rotors off of Amazon and received someone's old parts in the new box.

Actually... the world has changed...major disappointment all the way around...USA is not USA...it's China...and even other places to buy are the same thing! Don't even get me on the subject of Moog and Spicer ...you are NOT getting what U think!
There is RockAuto...I've had good luck there...but found myself buying and spending more on a set of struts...cuz week later my friend ordered his from Ebay half the price...they exactly like the ones I got from Rocko...we both have wives with the same vehicles...
I ordered a front-end kit fir a truck from Greek....not as pictured or written...items missing!
Sometimes I notice that dealerships who are depleting their OEM stock shelves will use Ebay or Amazon...so sometimes ya get a pretty good part...

Bottom line........ IT"S THE DRAW OF THE HAT....and lots of short sticks in there!

Note...RockAuto is interesting...it's kinda like Ebay and Amaz...but it directed to ONLY vehicles...and what it does is the shopping homework for you...it will list different "grades" of parts...but those parts could be from Autozone, Advance, Greek, Autoplus, etc etc... again...no matter "who" it came from...it from the same company on AliExpress or Made in China or Aliblia...so....again...who knows what ya getting?? I find RockAuto a great "reference tool" for correct part numbers and I fly around from there...

And last and just as important! "Junk Yards" The ones I liked was you walk and take off what you need..pay for it and go! Most I went to...never had a problem
if ya had a problem just try another one ...junk yards good like that...
So if ya a stickler for "OEM"...yes it's used...but many vehicles end up in junk yards with MANY good working parts! be honest...40yrs... I've =less trouble with "yard" parts than Amazon parts! Sad part...some company in Brazil went and bought out every Junk Yard in the entire state! Can't go and pick your own anymore... Tons of rules....it sucks! But that's the new American way and we allow it...so we can't bitch and moan too much...it comes back and points at us!
