I am installing a Sinister EGR delete on my truck, and I need to be done by 11am tomorrow........ yes, 11am tomorrow. We are going to the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth and I need to be able to pull my camper.

The reason for even attempting this tonight is beause yesterday I was changing my oil, and noticed that I had two coolant leaks. BOTH EGR cooler hoses were leaking. Sure I could disasseble it ad replace the hoses/put it all back toether, but why waste this perfect opportunity to delete the EGR coolers. I called up Mike from Mike's Diesel Performance in Chelsea, MI -which isn't very far from me and Mike overnight's me the Sinister Diesel kit. So I get home from work tonight at about 5:45pm, eat dinner, help the wife get the kids ready for bed, and by 7:15 I'm in the driveway tearing it apart.

Here's where I'm stuck: what do you guys use to get the horizontal cooler bolts out? I removed the vertical cooler no problem, bracket, etc... I just need to get those two :cursing: bolts out and the rest is cake. Please tell me what you guys use/how you do it! I will be back at it in the morning when the mosquitos aren't trying to drag me into the trees.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I am trying to figure out which two bolts you are having issues with. If its the two that connect the egr cooler at the back of the motor, I just lay under the truck and reach up with a ratchet and wrench. The horizontal cooler bracket has a few bolts that are easier to get from underneath also.

It's the two that connect the horizontal cooler to the up pipes. You get them both from underneath?

I got it. You guys ever have the moment of frustration between not having the correct combination of tools and the wrong angle at the bolts yu are trying to remove? Thats where I was at the first post. After calming down, drinking a beer, and looking at it again - I got it out in about 5 minutes.

I hate when that happens.

Thanks for the input and help! Hopefully I will be on the road tomorrow at 11am as planned... :blitzed: :pint: :toast:

Well, we made it! Got it finished up about 9:45am on Friday. Hit the road and had a blast. I don't know if I got any good pics, but here are a couple. Lots of different beer and TONS of people.

fat-fingered from my EPIC 4G
