Egr issue need advice

A friend of mine bought an 08 the other day. The following day the ses light came on pulling in to work. Scanned it and pulled up P1335 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Position Sensor Minimum/Maximum Stop Performance. Parked the truck to keep from causing anymore issues.

Planned on doing deletes just not the day after the truck was bought. What are you guys thoughts on just doing block off plates till funds are available to do the full egr delete. No tunes, Is that a possibility? Its obvious there will be codes. But can it cause issues.

On a side note. What does that code mean? To me it sounds like the egr valve has stuck opened or closed?

IIRC means the valve isnt closing all the way. Could be stuck open, or something (debris) not letting it close fully, or something in the wiring or plug. Try clearing it and see if it comes back. Im sure he noticed a loss of power?

No noticeable loss of power.

Yeah scratch that just cleared the codes light came back on an its real low on power. Would the motor being cold make the problem more noticeable?
