I think youve got the belt backwards Kelly not 100% sure though.
THIS is what I'm looking for. If my truck came with dual alternators, would I still need to buy another one?
And honestly, I'd rather not need another belt to run it. Just seems simpler in my mind.
But maybe I should just ask for a list of "differences" between the kits instead of pro's/con's. That way nobody gets their feelings hurt?
I would have about 2300 in mine if I had bought a new pump from ford.
Would you be getting the new pump under $1k? I haven't found them for less anywhere.
The con of the pump being on the serpentine is null and void. You blow a serpentine belt with either kit you are screwed. And the DD kit would be much easier to replace the belt without all the added stuff.
You'll be screwed either way if the pump fails. System will be contaminated so either setup will leave you dead in the water. Changing the belts on the elite setup blows. Space is limited at best and modifications to clean the fan shroud are needed, not to mention needing to trim the battery box some. Also the fuel lines in the elite kit vibrate unless you wrap them in hose since there really is no good way to clamp them. Next the elite kit has the fuel line "T" very close to the hpfp harness plug. If not put in right you will run through the insulation of the wires and ground out the rear pump. Pros to the elite kit are its simple enough to change the pump if it does go bad where as the DD kit is buried. Also with the DD kit the hpfp is mounted very close to the exhaust manifold which could allow for heat transfer to the hpfp.
In all honesty both kits are about the same. There's room to improve both kits. Are the improvements going to happen, in time I'm sure they will tweak things and make them better. My suggestion, and its been said before, pick the kit that makes you feel comfortable with your purchase. If your happy then you made a good choice. It's not always about money ya know.
