Do you have any experience with hard anodized forged pistons?

Fwiw there's a duramax out there with 60k + miles on the same style hard anodized pistons that we offer for 6.4's. The same principals work for any engine, duramax, powerstroke, cummins.

They are not a get in it and go piston. But they are an alternative for high HP, nitrous, ect.......

I'm also not trying to be a dick, but 60k miles in one truck is a far stretch from being able to say let the truck warm up and they WILL last 100k.

People always want to jump everyone's **** for making claims like this, i only asked because that kind of mileage is unheard of. I just dont feel its fair to say things with no proof. i dont want to start a huge debate about this, i just wanted to bring my opinion on this into the open.

Forged is stronger but forged also brings other potential issues to the table.

Yeah that's where I wasn't sure which route to take. I wanna make 850hp on fuel maybe more if I spray but prolly won't spray much if ever. Gonna be a sled pulling, street, dune toy when I get it where I want. I'm not looking for 100k miles but I don't wanna rebuild it ever 5k. It will be lucky to be driven 5k a year.

I gotcha.

I am not saying either way how long they are gonna last. They are an improvement over raw uncoated forged pistons. The duramax was an example for people take it fwiw.

You should be more than fine with HD or IH pistons. Realistically, machined stockers would probably suffice as well.

Well the long block I'm buying has a cracked #2 stock piston, so I figured it was the best time to upgrade. I didn't figured it was better than replacing the broken one and having them all machined and coated.

Don't order pistons till that new block is checked out as IH pistons only come in standard size. Just a heads up.

10-4:thumbsup: its gonna be sent to the machine shop first and foremost to see if in fact the #2 cylinder actually needs to be sleeved or it can be honed out. I have yet to see it, Friday I go to pick it up and let the fun begin.
