OK i have a 7.3 I have been working on and when it came in it had a low power issuse and would just shut off randomly. No codes were on a old came senosr code was in the system so replaced the came sensor, the truck seemed to run better but had started smoking bad under WOT and had bad fuel smell in the garage. replaced the injectors all 8 ran for 3 hours at 2300rpm and still has a knock and now surges some. I didnt use a ford cam sensor would that make a difference? It is a grey sensor I have seen about a black one and a grey one is there a difference? Any input is helpful

How good did you clean the injector bores? It sounds like perhaps a copper may have fell off the injectors and injector was not seated and compression melted the gasket, getting air in fuel and fuel into cylinder

To be clear did the raw fuel smell and smoking @ WOT as well as the knocking only start after you replaced the CPS but before you did the injectors? It then continued after the injectors were replaced correct?

Could you post a clear time line of the symptoms in line with what things you did replaced etc?

What kind of knock?
