Diesel Conversion Specialists make some nice and affordable kits for doing the swaps. Mounts, wiring, adapter plates, templates..

i have been looking at them , do they have quality stuff?

Their stuff is alright but not the best out there in my opinon. For engine mounts I would call auto world and get a set of either their single or double mounts. The quality on them is awesome. If you going to run the E4OD Id go to destroked for the adapter plate and run a pcs like mentioned before

Why not just run the dodge 47 trans?

I agree with this. Itll be the cheapest route

now on another note , why is the 94-97 years so sought after? besides building power with , are there problems the earlier years have that the 94-97's have? i can find decent deals on earlier model engines ,

Basically just the engine (Powerstroke vs IDI). The earlier years also have different interiors, getting more spartan as you go back in generations.

You would just have to go to their website and get a controller and the wiring diagram to go along with it for an e4od along with some base files to start with

i was , i think that's what he ment also , are early models prone to any specific problems? maybe the same as the 2nd gens?

They are just more desirable because they are p pumped and you can make a whole lot more power with them and they are relatively cheap to build. The older ve pumps are very reliable as well though

having heard how bad dodge tranny's are , i didn't even give it a thought , my E40D does not have that many miles on it and works great , that's why i just thought i would keep it

Nothing wrong with the dodge trans, just needs to be built correct. Ive got over 100k on my 47RE on my dodge VP truck with no issues at all. I don't understand why they have the bad rep that they do. A good torque converter, good clutches, billet servo's, and valve body and they will last

If your not in it for power, go VE pump. The engine will cost less than a P pumped version. Besides with some injectors you can make pretty decent power.

I would definitely go with just a ve then

I would strongly consider the 47re or rh as an option as well I love my built 47re in my king ranch

OBS PSD will feel stronger than a VE, more comparable to a P pump. But like said just a few simple things will make it more livable.

Stock to stock, they are pretty comparable IMO... Once you do the free mods to the pump, fuel screw, and a small set of injectors, the HP and TQ will be pretty good. Also, if you haven't checked out Cumminsforum.com yet, there are a few good threads in the swap section... http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/cummins-conversions-shop-talk-tools-fabrication/

yes stock to stock , the only thing in my 7.3 is a superchips and a intake
