Well after this years trans marathon I have decided to gear the truck. For people who don't know the mods in the SIG are out of date but the truck is driven on 37s 95% of the time and sees 33s at the track and dyno most of the time. The truck is getting a 47re trans this winter as well. What gear would you guys run? 4.10 or 4.30? I used to drive the truck a lot and plan to again once I get the trans to live. The truck sees anywhere from 2-500 miles a weekend on average. What you guys think?

glad you hear you are regearing it. i would be curious to know if you could get a 5R to live once you gear it down..

Jared @ RCD has a bit of knowledge running different gearsets with large tires-you could hit him up

Running 37's I would go 4.30's. It's going to feel like a completely different truck once you get the gears in. You may even want to step up to a 4.56 ratio.

The trans is sold and gone. I am not dealing with that headache again lol.
Def on 37s I would like a 4.30 but will I still have enough gear on 33s at the track?

148 mph with 33s 3.73s and a 5r110

So essentially if you do a 47re and 4.30s you should have around the some top gear as you did with 33s and 3.73s with the 5r.

I say 4.30s and race that bitch on the 37s.

ask Claussen.

your two trucks should be comparable power wise, or used to be, and he's on 37's.

iirc, he's got a 4:xx ratio. ask him if he likes his or would tweak it with one up or down from where he's at.

Clausens on 4.30s. I really want to run both sets of tires though. Its crazy what the truck feels like on the 33s. Just an immense change in the feel of power. Def improve track times!

You have 3.73s though. With 4.30s you're going to have a similar ratio on the 37s.

But performance won't be equal due to the massive rotating weight of a 22" wheel with a 37" tire.

With a 4.10 you still gain the benefit of being able to run the two different sets of tires and still reduce strain on the drivetrain with the 37's.

The performance on 37's still won't be ideal but I suppose that's the compromise when you like big tires

"Similar ratio" yeah the weight will still hurt him.

Lmao. No way!!! I don't want to touch the truck other than normal maintenance LOL

Yes I realize that but the tire change would show the power difference no matter what gear set is in it. I compete with dudes on 29s. I try and close the gap a little by dropping to 33s.
