Ok guys I got one for ya

Got a 96 F350 PSD auto in the garage. Died on a guy driving down the road. Wasnt getting any fuel pressure. I tested it at the FPR. Ok so I replaced the pump, replaced the fuel bowl (found a hairline crack starting), all new rubber lines, popped the feed line off the selector valve and blew air through it to make sure it was nice and clear.

Here I am with still no fuel pressure. I can watch it fill the fuel bowl nicely. If I crack open the drivers side fitting at the rear of the head near the turbo I can watch it push fuel that seems to have pressure to it. If I remove a return line from the FPR it pulses fuel like I would expect it to. Yet still no pressure reading. Now I tried my fuel pressure gauge on my 94.5 and it bounces between 50-70 like I would expect.

I for the sake of variety tried a new CPS, tried a known good computer, known good IDM, It does throw a CPS intermittent code as well as an injector 1 low circuit code. The injector code I am not worried about as the truck has 260k on it and its beat. The CPS intermittent code worries me a hair but the tach bounces, and when cranking there is white smoke coming from the tail pipe. Not a lot but there is some there.

ICP hits 500 pretty quick then shoots to 2500 while cranking. IPR% is 45% while cranking.

Im at a loss of where to go next. Anyone got any ideas on this one?

Figured it out, went old school and put a hydraulic gauge on the oil rail and got 0 psi. Took the drivers side oil line off. While cranking got barely a dribble out of it. Gonna go ahead and say this is an HPOP failure.

But why would my scanner read good ICP when there isnt any? thats what has me bothered. Unless the IPR is stuck?

I forgot this was on here, This project got way out of hand.

I rebuilt the IPR and got HPO back. Still no fuel pressure.

Turns out I had a bad fuel pump right out of the box

You sure that the pickup tubes in the tanks are clean and nkt clogged?

Fills the fuel bowl like a champ. But then just a dribble out of the fittings at the back of the heads

But to be sure of that I unhooked the line after the selector valve, blew it clean with the air hose and put it well submerged in a can of fresh diesel. No change

Let me start from scratch so you know what I know.

Truck came in with no fuel pressure, replaced the pump, replaced the fuel bowl (found a crack). while the fuel bowl was out I cleaned the screens on the FPR, replaced all the rubber hoses, checked all the fuel bowl harness wiring and rewrapped it. Then blew out the feed line from the selector valve to the pump.

That brings me to where I am at now on the fuel side of things. After all of that there is still no pressure and weak flow out of the back of the pump. It will fill the fuel bowl just fine which makes me think its not a bad cam shaft lobe (ive been over almost every possibility out there). So I am going to try another new pump tomorrow

haha, what i SHOULD have said was there are no sending unit screens/socks like on the super duties

But they have pickup tubes right? Pretty sure I didnt say anything about a screen in the tanks. I had enough crap in my tank to clog the tube. Many others have too.
