Ok, so Im sick of my Up Pipes leaking, throwing code and now that its warm I cant even run the AC with out gassing myself out!!!

Anyways, I got my eye on Rudys HD up pipes (Keeping the truck somewhat stock, so dont need anything crazy) but I might as well look into the 6.0 mani's!

What are the benifits?? Cost? Sound? Just trying to gather some good info!!

There wont be any sound differance, they will just be stronger and have less chance of blowing out. The major area of strength of the 6.0 manifolds/up pipes vs. stock 6.4 manifolds/up pipes is the 6.0 manifolds have the 90* bend cast in the manifold(quite thick). Where as the 6.4 manifolds have a straight design with the up pipes having the 90* bend with thin wall tubing. So its just a stronger more reliable design that some say yields more flow. I personally think there is more flow with the 6.0 manifolds than with the 6.4 stockers. Just my opinion but if you look at the 2 side by side you might agree. Good luck!

6.0 manifolds flow better as well, I believe. Side by side comparison even shows it. 6.0 manifolds are much cheaper, if you can find them used. The cast manifold is also less likely to crack then a stainless welded one over time and with high temps. I picked up a set of used 6.0 manifold for 40 bucks used on here and had them coated for 50, give or take.

Did you ceramic coat them? I picked up a used set also and am thinking about having them coated.

As much flow is gained, I don't think at my power level Im going to see a big difference. but my big delema comes in at 6.0 up pipes are WAY more expensive to put on a 6.4, manifolds are cheap, yes, but 700 or so for just the up pipes is a bit rediculus compared to 350 for HD replacements.... Just trying to see if the price increase is going to be actually worth it, and Im not seeing a whole lot of benefit I can actually use other than reliability so far, but my stockers lasted 162K miles......

I wonder what makes an hd replacement "hd" and what makes that cheaper compared to a standard set of 6.0 style replacements. Honestly no you probably dont need more flow. I havent heard of someone blowing the 90 bend out of a stock up pipe, it always seems to be the bellows that blow.

I normally would think of ceramic coating to be shiney.... I sent my manifolds, and exhaust housing for my 66 and 88mm turbos out. Its a thermal coating to keep heat in, but its not shiney its black. I dont think they shiney coating they had were rated for the temps the manifolds and housings would see

I did lol. I think 6.0 manis and upgraded up pipes are the way to go.

Oh wow. Haha, thats the first actual picture ive seen. Did that happen over a period of time or all at once?

OP where are your pipes leaking? I guess it all just depends on what you want. Id imagine 6.0 manifolds will net you a slight gain and would be more durable after seeing the above photo. But again, it all comes down to what you want to spend. Have you seen if rcd or mpd make up pipes for the 6.0 manifolds and what they cost? Try to look on the classifieds, maybe put up an ad for the manifolds, im sure youd find some.

Im almost positive its the bellows that went. When I was doing my EGR delete the fire wall was covered in soot and its been leaking into the cab. its slowly getting worse and worse. I don't want to do some digging around to pin point the leak to make sure its not a 90 or a gasket before I drop the coin on a whole new set!

And I do know those 90's are a weak point, but I don't pull, hardly tow and don't really beat on the truck that much.....

My .02 is that most of these HD up pipes most people sell arent really that HD. The bellows are an improvement yes, but the wall thickness is the common point of failure we see most.

We get tons of farmers with F450's that split the pipe right behind the manifold, so new bellows wont really work the magic you need for that fix

Ours are more expensive yes, but we created the solution to the thinner up pipes, and have NEVER had a set of ours blow out, even in extreme conditions.

Cant beat it, always in stock too.
