Helped a buddy install the dashboss with egt and fp add ons. We disconnected the batteries for safety's sake. Everything went fine until we started it up. It started the grayish smoke and kept smoking even after fully warmed up. Not a death cloud but like a muffler about done burning off condensation. The truck didn't smoke at all and is always shut down at 350* egt's. we checked for oil in dp and there was none. No codes either. Starts up within 3 seconds of cranking, no stumbling, power is where it should be. Still idles down to about 315* egt like it did before.

The truck is stock vxcf4, 58v ficm with php mild flash. He was using an older evo for a monitor but was on stock power. Is there a fuel curve relearn along with vgt and tranny relearns? The only thing I can come up with is the mild flash is over fueling at idle some and the PCM hasn't accounted for it yet. Any ideas?

So after you did the said work it started smoking? I don't see how any of that would cause it to start smoking. Does it run smooth? IDK, maybe try a cylinder contribution test and see if all cylinders are pulling.

I think it's just the pcm relearning. One of my other friend's truck done the same thing. Same strategy and ficm oufit. First time I ever seen anything like it. It has backed off to just when the oil is under 130* now. We ran the contribution and all eight are within 5 points of 0 on the scale. The truck runs fone and is not gaining oil or coolant nor loosing either. Freak thing I guess.

He says it's just more embarrasing than anything. My truck does when cold, but the grid heater is gone, plus having a stack gets it up away from everyone.
