Help! Replacing brake pads and hardware

I'm helping my buddy replace the brake pads on his 99 2wd F-250 and do I have these springs between the pads installed correctly? I'm having trouble finding whether they need to be flipped 180 or if they are in correct. They don't seem right like this but this is how the old ones were when we took the old pads off. Not sure if it's right or not.

Probably not. As long as they're there it's good.

I believe that I had the part of the spring in too of the caliper on my old 7.3. The picture definitely does not look right, but as others said, it should not hurt performance.

The horse shoe side should be towards the outside of the pads IIRC . But honestly doesn't matter.
