How a A1000 should've been

So after 2000 miles on my A1000 is gave up. I pulled it apart to find some pretty disappointing parts. The impeller is plastic and so is the bushing for the motor shaft on that end. Thought I'd share my repair.

Did you contact Aeromotive at all? I remember another member had a pump fail several months ago. He posted a pic on instagram and had an almost instant response from Aeromotive. He was please with their customer service.

you just short-changed yourself longevity by switching out the plastic bushing...

I didn't want new junk parts. I wanted to put it together and forget about it. The plastic bushing failed which led to the flat spots inside the pump gear getting chewed up. Never saw a plastic bushing out last a brass one. Especially running in fuel/coolant.

Did you contact Aeromotive at all? I remember another member had a pump fail several months ago. He posted a pic on instagram and had an almost instant response from Aeromotive. He was please with their customer service.

This I have used A1000 for 10+yrs, even running junk WVO oil any issues I have had with them Aeromotive has been very quick to fix them.

Infact I just bought 2 of them a few month ago out of a offshore racing boat that was being parted out. I knew nothing about the pumps so I sent them to Aeromotive to have them check them out before I sold them. They went thru the pumps updated the terminals and rebuilt the pumps, all I had todo is pay shipping.

To the op there is something else going on if you burnt the pump out that quickly, you are either sucking up air or dont have the pump close enough to the fuel tank causing the pump to over spin and get hot. They stronly suggest for vehicles that are DD to run the pump module that slows the pump down when full pressure is not needed.

The pump is as close to the tank as it can get without being on the tank. I have a sump with a 5/8 supply. Also running the aeromotove pre filter. Tank hasn't been run below 1/4 tank. Hardly a DD, this 2000 miles took 5 months. I didn't post this to debate whether I should have contacted aeromotove. Or to find someone who says they don't anything about a pump but will tell me what I should've done. I did d the way I wanted to. And it will outlast the original parts. My point of the post was for what these pumps cost they should have higher quality parts. And there may be some other guys on here that are true DIY guys , not just vender hookers.

That's right. I've had two diff vendors tell me that no longer put this pump at the top of the recommendation list because of this.

How much for those parts? Looks like nice work. Did you fix the ugly electrical pass thru connectors too?

Nice repair, hopefully you got it-- diesel is rough on polymers, often more so than gas. 5K on the fuelab now in low speed and hasn't missed a beat.

I can't say that I'd want to make and sell them. I made aluminum inserts for the pass thru connections and cut a groove in them for a oring. I don't know how long it'll last. But chances are I can address any issues it may have. I can say that it is way quieter. Can no longer hear it going down the road. Also the pass thru connections are soldered to the wires on the inside. My new ones I made have a Allen screw so you don't have to fool with the solder. I will run it 1000 miles and pull it back apart to see how things look.
